Drive system developed for shape-cutting machines

April 10, 2007

ProMotion Controls, in cooperation with Kollmorgen Servotronix and Koike Aronson, has developed a high-performance digital AC drive amplifier system for shape-cutting machinery. The AC iDrives are the first AC drives designed to work with various motors, different motor sizes, and small to large machines, providing up to a 2 kW power output.

The drives are available in two or three-axis configurations and fit easily inside any ProMotion iCNC. They can accommodate smaller shape-cutting machines (i.e., 5-ft. by 10-ft. cutting tables) to the largest frames in the industry, the company says. Depending on the target market and application, the same drives can work with either 115 VAC or 230 VAC.

The drives provide smooth and precise motion and eliminate the need for tuning during maintenance. All parameters are saved at the controller and can be loaded to the system without the need of a separate laptop computer for tuning.
