Control platform allows safety, standard control function integration

The PSSuniversal from Pilz Automation Safety L.P. allows safety and standard control functions, such as the enable principle and block switching, to be combined within one system without feedback. It has a decentralized, modular I/O and control platform.

High modularity and granularity provide flexibility in terms of tailored applications that can be expanded, the company says. It enables communication via all common fieldbus systems in combination with the company's SafetyBUS p.

The design consists of various head modules combined with base modules that are connected and available with screw or cage clamp terminals. Electronic modules are installed on these base modules, enabling the system to be tailored to automation requirements.
