Plasma cutting machine suitable for HVAC, small shops

March 11, 2008

3D Mfg. Inc.'s Razor Cut EL plasma cutting machine has a welded tubular frame and linear-motion rails—which are driven by a servo positioning system—on the X, Y, and Z axes.

The system has a light-duty power supply suitable for HVAC and small sheet metal shops. It can cut at more than 350 IPM on light material and is capable of piercing and cutting up to 3/4-in. mild steel. The machine features a voltage-controllable lifter and a PC-based CNC.

The motion rails are designed to allow the gantry to be moved completely off the cutting surface to facilitate loading and unloading of material. Operators can add an air evacuation system for smoke removal and an oxyfuel cutting torch for thicker materials.
