Silver-infused electrode available for plasma cutting system

June 14, 2005

Hypertherm Inc. has extended its patented SilverPlus™ electrode technology to its HySpeed HT 4400 plasma cutting system. The electrodes are available for both 300-amp and 400-amp oxygen process cutting.

The electrodes comprise a silver front end fused onto a copper base. The electrode's hafnium emitter interfaces with the silver to achieve improved cooling, the company says. This slows hafnium erosion during extended use and maintains pit symmetry, even when hafnium erosion reaches twice the depth of an all-copper electrode.

The electrodes also are available for the company's MAX200, HT2000, HT2000LHF, HT400, HT4000, and HT4001 systems.
