Angle grinders feature reduced vibration

March 8, 2005

Bosch Power Tools and Accessories offers its 1800 series 7- and 9-in. large angle grinders and sanders. Their reduction handle system incorporates vibration-absorbing rings into the three-position, side-assist handle and between the main trigger handle and grinder motor housing. According to the company, the new grinders cut vibration by 60 percent over previous models.

Six models are available. Model 1873-8 is a 7-in., 8,500-RPM, 3-HP grinder, designed for professionals. Model 1873-6 is a 3-HP, 7-in., 6,000-RPM industry standard grinder.

Models 1893-6 (6,000 RPM, 3 HP) and 1894-6 (4.5 HP) have 9-in. wheels. The 1894-6 also has a rotating D-handle.

Rounding out the line are 7- and 9-in. angle sanders: 1853-5 (5,000 RPM) and 1853-6 (6,000 RPM).

All models have tool-free adjustable guards and metal gear covers. Epoxy-coated field windings protect against abrasive dust and debris. The units have spiral bevel gears, and each is AC/DC compatible.
