Annular core cutters resist impact, stress

Walter Surface Technologies has redesigned its line of annular core cutters to have a mix of high-speed steel and aluminum (M2Al), providing more resistance to impact, stress, and deformation.

The SST core cutter is uncoated, made with a surface treatment that reduces heat transfer. The IceCut core cutter is coated with aluminum-chromium nitride PVD coating (AlCrN) that forms a nano-sized lubrication layer when heated to prevent debris from rubbing, melting, or deforming onto the metal. Both core cutters have teeth made at various heights and depths for improved drilling speed.

The Carbide core cutter handles hard metals and uneven surfaces. Designed for extreme applications, it can pierce abrasive materials and nonferrous metals such as stainless steel. Its lubricant zone allows lubricants to get closer to the teeth for cool, smooth cutting.
