Array sensor facilitates leading-edge detection of irregularly shaped objects - TheFabricator.com

SICK has introduced the WL27-3 Reflex Array photoelectric sensor for leading-edge detection of irregularly shaped objects. The unit detects any object 0.47 in. or larger with its 1.97-in. detection height, regardless of object properties or position within the array — including clear materials.

The sensor operates in a retroreflective mode, requiring a single device. An intuitive alignment/teach procedure helps ensure the device is operating under ideal conditions with the reflector. A high-resolution version offers a minimum detectable object (MDO) resolution down to 0.19 in. with 0.94-in. detection height.
