Omron Scientific Technologies Inc. has introduced F3SJ-E safety light curtains, which provide hand-intrusion detection for use in stand-alone devices and machines. Quick-mount brackets and reduced wiring combine, along with easily viewable alignment indicators, enable mounting in half the time of other models, the manufacturer reports.

The new model is an easy-type light curtain, suitable for straightforward hand-guarding applications. The existing F3SJ-A advanced-type light curtains offer series connectivity, finger or hand/limb/body protection configurations, and advanced blanking and muting functions for more complex applications. Both versions conform to the latest Type 4, PLe, and SIL3 requirements.

Sensors with protective heights of up to nearly 8.2 ft. are available for applications that involve large workpieces. The light curtains have a low profile for installation on existing equipment. They are available with 11.8-in. M12 connector pigtails or a prewired 9.8-ft. cable.
