Steel lathe chuck shields safeguard workers for OSHA, ANSI compliance

February 19, 2014

Danray Products LLC offers 52- and 62-in. steel lathe chuck shields for lathes or similar machines. The heavy-duty, 12-ga. shields safeguard individuals from point-of-operation and rotating hazards, as well as flying chips, sparks, coolant, and lubricant.

The mounting bracket attaches to the face of the headstock. The vertical shield hinges like a door for changing or adjusting the chuck or workpiece. The operator doesn’t need to reach in close to the chuck when opening and closing the shield. The shield design allows it to be hinged either left or right, so the shield can be used on the front or back of the machine to safeguard the chuck.

The shields comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.212 and the ANSI B11.6 safety standard for lathes.
