Self-cleaning treatment enhances welding nozzle life
- November 10, 2009

Secoa Technology has introduced a treatment process that transforms customers' current welding nozzles into PerfectArcs™ self-cleaning weld nozzles. The nozzles are suitable for almost any manual or robotic GMAW process, including operations using tandem and/or custom weld nozzles. The self-cleaning nozzles eliminate the need for spatter release sprays and dips and are guaranteed to last three to 15 times (or more) longer than ordinary nozzles, the company says.
When the welding process is stopped and the flow of the shielding gas terminated, semimolten metallic deposits become exposed to gases in the atmosphere, and spatter can form on the inside of the welding nozzle. The self-cleaning nozzles shed the spatter to help permit the proper flow of shielding gas.
