Absolute ring encoder released for angular motion feedback

Heidenhain has introduced the ECA 4000 incremental ring encoder, the next generation of the ERA 4000 unit for machine tool rotary tables, semiconductor wafer motion stages, and robotics.

The new absolute series ring encoder offers several features for angular motion feedback. It comes in a variety of ODs from 4 to 22 in. so that machine designers can pass cabling through the center of the ring to streamline design.

Each ring has a three-point centering method, which allows the installer to locate the center of the drum to the center of the machine bearing within a few minutes.
