Access control system prevents unauthorized use of machinery

March 18, 2014

A universal access control system that uses smart card technology to prevent fixed and mobile machinery from being used by unauthorized people has been introduced by Whiting Corp.

AccessPoint controls who can operate high-value, high-risk equipment and records when they accessed it and for how long. The technology enables users to employ one system for their entire operation. The system is administered through a secure web-based application, Whiting Viewpoint.

The system can be fitted to any electrically powered device, from cranes and positioning machinery to lathes, presses, and cutting and forming equipment.
