Blast turbines feature curved throwing blades for increased throwing speed

Walther Trowal has introduced a new generation of blast turbines for THM type troughed-belt, continuous-feed shotblast machines. These turbines feature curved throwing blades, which increase the throwing speed and reduce cycle times for shotblasting of light metals such as aluminum and magnesium.

These materials require softer aluminum blast media that has a lower bulk density, so its impact energy is lower than other media such as steel shot. The higher throwing speeds help to increase the effectiveness of the lighter-weight blast media.

The throwing blades are curved on both sides, so the turbines can be run in two directions. For applications requiring steel and stainless steel blast media, the blades are available in wear-resistant tool steel.
