Casters ride low, haul 20 tons

Hamilton has introduced the Enhanced Maxi-Duty (EMD2) series caster. It features dual-wheel forged steel wheels for heavy manufacturers that need high load capacities without increased overall height. The wheels are CNC-machined with a slight crown for rollability and swiveling, then clear-coated.

The common mounting plate size (8.5 by 8.5 in.) simplifies swap out of existing casters. The 0.625-in. mounting plate is joined with a 1-in.-thick swivel base. The legs are 0.75 in. thick and welded continuously inside and outside the swivel base.

The main load bearing is a 7-in.-dia. thrust ball bearing, while the secondary load bearing is a 1.25-in. precision-tapered roller bearing to counteract radial thrust. Wheel diameters are from dual 8- by 3-in. wheels rated at 28,000 lbs. to dual 12- by 4-in. wheels rated at 40,000 lbs.
