Ceramic centering pins for welding withstand extreme mechanical stress

Doceram has expanded its Cerazur line of centering pins made of blue ceramic. The pins, used to fix the sheets and assemblies in automated welding lines, have a service life that is up to 40 times longer than hardened metal pins, according to the company.

The ceramic material, made of yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide, offers durability and impact strength to remain geometrically stable even when undergoing extreme mechanical stress. Welding spatter does not stick to the material. The pins are suitable for use in other types of assembly as well, such as flanging and clinching.
