Heavy-duty casters tote 200 tons

Hamilton Caster has built four 100,000-lb.-capacity casters for a federal contractor. Fully assembled, each caster stands 52 in. above the factory floor and weighs more than 8,000 lbs. Together, the four casters have a payload capacity of 200 tons.

Each Colossus caster has a spring-loaded suspension system to absorb shock. The swivel construction comprises 32- and 18-in.-dia. raceways flame-hardened to 55 to 60 HRC with a total of 96 bearing balls of 1.5 in. dia. Each caster also features an eight-position swivel lock for directional control, a 7-in.-dia. oscillating axle to accommodate uneven surfaces, and a foot-operated braking system.
