Liquid protein concentrate serves as base substance for oil-free cooling lubricants

Gelita AG, together with an automotive part supplier and an industrial college in Eberbach, Germany, has developed NOVOTEC® CL 800, a liquid protein concentrate that serves as a raw material for oil-free cooling lubricants.

According to the manufacturer, metal processing fluids based on this functional protein look like water and show better cooling than mineral oil-based products, as they are more stable than an oil emulsion. They also leave no unwanted residues on workpieces, tools, or shavings. Processed parts can be used for further production, such as bonding, welding, painting, or coating, without the need for intensive cleaning, and the shavings can be processed directly.

The concentrate is biodegradable and free of allergens and pollutants.
