Monitoring system offers insights into presses

The Machine Monitoring System from Schuler provides comprehensive press monitoring to help increase machine availability and production, improve part quality, and lower energy consumption. The system is part of the Smart Press Shop, a collection of products for networking in the field of forming technology.

The intelligent diagnostics automatically archive and evaluate physical variables and control states when specific events occur to enable rapid fault analysis. The state-monitoring function monitors the system at regular intervals for damage and wear, using torque curves and structure-borne noise analyses, for example. With this state-based maintenance, components need to be replaced only when they have actually reached the end of their life, not just because they have been in operation for a specific amount of time.

Permanent logging of parameters such as press force and vibration progression enables a cycle-accurate response in real time, when necessary. Energy monitoring involves recording and evaluating all measured variables that are relevant for energy efficiency and network quality, such as power consumption, voltage dips, and harmonics.
