Renewable-waste cutting fuel cuts faster than acetylene

MagneGas Corp. has launched MagneGas® 2, a second-generation cutting fuel made from renewable waste. Independent tests performed by EWI on track-based cutting systems showed that, in comparison to acetylene, the fuel had 38 percent faster cutting speeds on 2-in. carbon steel and about a 34 percent reduction in oxygen consumption, the company states.

The fuel’s mix of gases results in a low flow rate and a flame that behaves like acetylene. It can be used for brazing and welding.
