Tempilstik°® temperature indicators from LA-CO Industries Inc. make marks that melt within 1 percent of their rated temperatures, according to the manufacturer. Lot numbered for NIST traceability, the indicators are supplied in an adjustable aluminum holder with pocket clip.
More than 100 temperature ratings are available, systematically spaced between 100 and 2,500 degrees F. Most can be certified to be lead-, sulfur-, and halogen-free.
The indicators can be stroked on a workpiece from time to time during a heating operation. Below its temperature rating, the indicator will not make a mark, but when its rating is reached, it leaves a liquid smear.
