Confined-space combustible gas detector offered

Biosystems LLC, a Bacou-Dalloz Company, offers the Cannonball3 confined-space gas detector. The system monitors combustible gases under low oxygen conditions where a dilution source of fresh air is used to supply oxygen to a continuously operating combustible gas LEL sensor.

The system is designed to detect oxygen deficiencies, flammable gases and vapors, and several toxic gases. Features include a large, scratch-resistant screen, multisided visual alarm, and one-button operation.

According to the company, dilution sampling is used to detect combustible gases in areas where the oxygen content is less than 10 percent. The new, patented dilution pump module used in the system utilizes two independent pumps, one to draw the sample from the confined space and the other to draw fresh air into the gas detector. Flow transducers in each line measure both the sample flow and the dilution flow, allowing the system’s microprocessor to calculate and display the correct sample readings. Previously this type of measurement was calculated by readings combined with operator calculations.
