Automatic blanking press has two electrically coupled, freely programmable pressure points

Schuler Beutler has developed the MSC-2000 automatic blanking press with ServoDirect technology. It features two electrically coupled, freely programmable pressure points without gear transmission. The machine’s rigidity has been significantly increased by linking the pressure points in the press uprights, according to the company.
The play-free and lubrication-free drive train comprises a highly dynamic servomotor, brake module, and eccentric shaft with conrods, knuckle-joint, and slide. The press uses two such drive trains facing each other — synchronized via the drive control — that deliver a press force of 2,000 kN.
There are preprogrammed profiles for knuckle-joint standard, blanking, coining, bending, and drawing processes. The drive allows the user to adapt the slide motion to the workpiece, increase the speed, and improve output performance in oscillating mode.
The drive train’s reduced mass moment of inertia increases the dynamic response of the slide movement. Together with the lack of gear transmission and the use of roller bearings, this cuts electrical power consumption by more than 50 percent. Users can access press data from anywhere, such as via smartphone.
