Coil processing flatness measurement and control system developed

IMS and Andritz Herr-Voss Stamco have partnered to develop a flatness measurement and control system for cut-to-length and multiblank operations.

The Level Vision™ system helps optimize material flatness quality with limited operator involvement by using IMS optical technology in combination with closed-loop levelers control technology developed by Andritz Herr-Voss Stamco. This combination of technologies allows the leveler to adjust automatically to address residual shape defects.

Available for retrofits and new installations, the system can correct and quantify flatness defects in ferrous and nonferrous flat-rolled strip independent of finishes and line speed. It also collects and stores product flatness data for report generation and for reuse on later production runs.
