Hydraulic ring expanders can be customized

Beckwood Press Co. has introduced a line of hydraulic ring expanders. The systems, which are used to form strong, symmetrical, ring-shaped parts, are employed in the aerospace industry for turbine engine manufacture.

According to the company, the ring expansion process helps minimize material thinning and nearly eliminates the stress point issues associated with traditional rolling and machining of rings made from a variety of high-strength materials including INCONEL® alloy, HASTELLOY®, and titanium.

The ring expanders can be customized for jaw diameter, jaw height, jaw travel, and tonnage capacity. They are designed and built to withstand the high forming and surface forces generated during the ring expansion process. Systems are provided with replaceable wear pads between the jaw segments and the jaw cone.
