Portable, hand-held surface gauge offers simplified calibration verification

Mahr Federal has introduced the Pocket Surf® IV portable surface-finish gauge. A new feature allows for the display of Ra, Rz, and Rmax values at a glance with only one measurement stroke. The single-button calibration process does not require additional tools.

The company’s MarConnect universal interface allows USB, RS-232, and Digimatic output of data. With MarCom software, data can be transferred into any Microsoft® application.

Features of the original Pocket Surf I remain, including four switchable probe positions (folded, 90, 180, and 270 degrees); simplified access to difficult-to-reach surfaces, such as IDs and ODs; LCD readout of the measured roughness value within 0.5 sec. after the surface is traversed; out-of-range and battery-low signals; selectable traverse lengths of one, three, or five cutoffs of 0.030 in.; and operation in any position (horizontal, vertical, and upside down).
