System calibrates camera pixel size in vision systems

Heidenhain Corp. offers the Magnification Checker tool to help machine vision users qualify the pixel size of any camera type.

Originally produced by Acu-Rite (now a Heidenhain brand), the unit features variably sized artifacts imprinted on its glass surface to allow users to view the images through a camera and lens system. Because of varying application requirements to measure different-sized features, multiple magnification levels are necessary. Using the system in tandem with evaluation electronics, users can change magnification levels and teach and store pixel sizes at each level.
