Slitting tool system for TRUMPF-style punch presses introduced

Mate Precision Tooling has introduced Mate LongLife™, a slitting tool system for TRUMPF-style punch presses. Fully OEM-compatible, the system combines tool steel punch and die inserts with punch and die holders.

Punch inserts, manufactured from premium high-speed steel, are designed to provide the maximum interval between regrinds. They are available in two standard sizes: 5 mm by 56 mm rectangle and 5 mm by 76.20 mm rectangle.

Two insert punch holders are available. One includes an integral alignment ring for fast and precise tool setup; the second requires a heavy-duty alignment ring to allow manual angle-setting flexibility. The system's punch holders work with conventional machine strippers.

Die inserts are available in two standard sizes, 5 mm by 56 mm rectangle and 5 mm by 76.20 mm rectangle with 0.10-mm die clearance increments from 0.10 mm to 0.60 mm. Suitable for mild steel up to 3.00 mm, the die inserts are assembled into one of two die insert holders—one suits the 56-mm-long inserts, and the other suits the 76.2-mm inserts. The holders include precise angular orientation at 0 and 90 degrees, the company reports.
