Unicable's rotating power connection relieves stress

Tregaskiss has introduced the TOUGH GUN™ LSR (Low-Stress Robotic) unicable. It includes a rotating power connection that relieves stress caused by routine cable torsion and features a protective conduit to shield the cable components from harsh welding environments.

The unicable has been engineered to withstand the wrist rotations and subsequent torsional stress of robotic welding, the company states. It comes standard with TOUGH GUN ThruArm™ series robotic GMAW guns, which the company offers for through-arm arc welding robots by FANUC, OTC Daihen, ABB, and Motoman.

At 100 percent duty cycle, the unicable provides 500 amps of air-cooled capacity with CO2 and 350 amps with mixed gases, based on NEMA standards.
