Press brake has more bending space, repeat accuracy to 5 mm

TRUMPF will introduce an updated version of its TrumaBend V series line of press brakes at FABTECH 2004 in Cleveland. New four-cylinder technology replaces hydraulic cylinders and provides more bending space. New models in the series will indicate press tonnage in kilonewtons, for example, TrumaBend V 1300.
The additional cylinders apply press force uniformly to the press beam and tool. They create a greater cylinder surface, which improves oil cooling and yields higher speeds with minimal heat input, resulting in repeat accuracy to 5 mm, the company says.
With the new series, cycle time for a component drops by up to 30 percent. The machine can reach up to 519 IPM on the upstroke and the downstroke with the same motor power.
The machine's backgauge system and bending aid are equipped with a complete measuring system. When turned on, the machine is operational immediately. A rapid pressing function during sheet hemming helps reduce cycle time.
The machine has an identical screen interface throughout the bending process. Operators use the same interface whether using the ToPs 600 programming system for PC programming or preparing work directly at the machine.
The graphic-interactive interface control and the ergonomically designed control panel facilitate simple programming. The control contains information on material management, divides the tools into individual modules, generates the setup plan, and then calculates the bending sequence, including a collision check.
With the machine's improved angle measurement function integration, the operator now can read bending results from the monitor. Available automatically controlled bending (ACB) functions have been doubled to eight.
Improvements also have been made to the lower tool holders. Separately controllable clamping pistons, suitable for holding short part sections, now attach the tools instead of a clamp bar.
