Software eliminates operator calculation in pipe cutting

HGG Profiling Equipment offers pipe cutting machines with optional Acorn piping software from Acorn Pipe Systems for precision shape cutting and beveling without the need for operator calculation.

The software makes programming and cutting precision holes for branches and shaped ends for nozzles and dummy legs as simple as programming and then making straight cuts with beveled ends, says the company. It also provides all information needed to fabricate pipe spools.

With the software, each drawing is specification-driven so that a BOM can be a direct result of each part program. Programmers can calculate fitting lengths and create material lists for any number of drawings produced. They also can create complete production lists for each job, detailing labor, material, inventory, and fabrication that will be required. Part programmers can go from creating about five drawings a day to 30 or 40, the manufacturer reports.
