Weld purging film can be cut to size for pipes

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® has designed and developed Argweld® Weld Purge Film® kits for weld purging of various pipe diameters to help ensure oxide-free welds.

Available from Cob Industries, the water-soluble film can be cut for dams with a safety knife and fixed into position with water-soluble Weld Purge Super Adhesive®. This forms an impenetrable purge barrier that can be washed away during hydrostatic testing of the pipe or by normal wash-out.

The film can be used on pipe diameters up to 36 in. and for temperatures up to 572 degrees F without the material burning and losing the weld purge.
