Olimpia 80 has produced linear cage forming tube mills for a customer producing square and rectangular tube sections in carbon steel material.

One of the lines produces square sections from 1.18 by 1.18 in. to 3.15 by 3.15 in. and rectangular sections from 1.57 by 1.18 in. to 4.43 by 1.18 in., in thicknesses from 0.04 to 0.24 in. at speeds up to 393.70 FPM. The other line can produce square sections from 1.57 by 1.57 in. to 4.72 by 4.72 in. and rectangular sections from 1.57 by 1.18 in. to 6.30 by 3.15 in., in thicknesses from 0.06 to 0.31 in. at speeds up to 295.28 FPM.

The mills can produce all the square and rectangular tubes within the size range without any changes to rolls in the forming, welding, sizing, straightening, and cutting sections. The average time to change tube dimensions is 15 min.

A computerized control saves production data in recipes that can be recalled as needed. The PC shows the tube flower of any tube being produced, allowing the shape to be created with different angles. Changing the forming section to change the tube OD takes 3 to 5 min.
