Blissenbach has introduced a seam monitoring device used in combination with ID scarfing tools for the production of high-frequency longitudinally welded tubes. The product monitors cutting edge chipping, scarfing depth, and misalignment of weld edges caused by imprecise forming.
The area of the removed weld bead is scanned mechanically by a trigger roll. The information then is transformed into digital signals and visualized on a display. The monitor has been designed to filter out disturbance values created by the high-frequency alternating field, so that measurements can be exact.
Machine operators can view the state of the removed weld bead, as well as that of the tube profile.
