Assembly system uses no templates

Virtek Vision Intl. offers the Iris™ Spatial Positioning System (SPS), a precision assembly system that eliminates templates and jigs.

The system combines the use of laser projection with 3-D vision technology to create a new precision assembly technique called virtual tooling. It locates objects in 3-D space and locks onto CAD-specified assembly positions to guide the user through the assembly process.

The system is suitable for manufacturing heavy machinery and other large-scale products.
