Dynabrade's air-powered Dynascaler is a descaling and surface preparation tool suitable for heavy-duty applications. The tool powers Roto Peen bonded flap assemblies for removing rust, oxide, scale, old paint, and tough coatings.Hand-held tools are available in both straight-line and right-angle models. They allow the operator to work closer to the work surface, resulting in additional control in hard-to reach areas. The tools feature a four-position top handle and are suitable for removing paint and rust before repainting, as for bridgework.A floor model is offered that features a 20-slot hub for bonded flaps. It is suitable for scaling operations along a long area, such as paint and rust removal along the floor of a ship or freighter. An adjustable edge guide helps ensure straight-line descaling. An over-under model also is available. The tool mechanically fractures scale and coatings with negligible removal of base metal. It can be used for simultaneous over-under removal of scale from steel girder plating before welding.

Peddinghaus Corp. has introduced a new thermal processing technology called Ring of Fire. It has the capacity to process all AISC structural shapes, including beams, columns, angle iron, channel iron, HSS square and rectangular tubes, and plate and flat stock. The compact machine uses plasma cutting and precise positioning to process all four sides of structural tube. It provides AISC-approved bolt hole generation and also serves as a cutoff device for running multiple sections. The machine also performs surface beveling, weld prep, standard coping, and flange thinning. It makes interior web/flange cuts and produces legible electronic marking.A self-contained dust collection and filtration system is standard.

Metabo Corp.'s compact W8-125, a 5-in. angle grinder, is suitable for finishing welded seams, rough grinding for weld preparation, and sanding and cutting applications. The grinder employs cooling technology with repositioned brushes for unrestricted airflow and a fan that pulls air through the tool to keep it running cool during operation. The tool also features an 8.0-amp motor with 800 W of power, 19.5 in.-lbs. of torque, and a no-load speed of 10,000 RPM.Double-lipped, labyrinth sealed bearings; a winding protection grid; and epoxy-coated windings protect the motor and other essential components from dust and debris, helping extend motor life. The 5.4-lb. grinder features a secure racket grip and dual grip zones for optimal handling. An antivibration side handle absorbs up to 60 percent of the vibration and allows the operator to hold the tool longer, resulting in fatigue-free operation, reports the company.Safety features include a toolless guard adjustment, a spindle lock, and an S-Automatic safety slip clutch to help protect the operator from kickback by absorbing the torque created if the wheel would bind or snag.

Exair has introduced its Micro Air Nozzle™ that provides blowoff with a directed high-volume, high-velocity airflow. The nozzle projects less than 1 in. past the mounting surface, which allows for installation where space is limited. The stainless steel construction is suitable for blowoff, cooling, and drying applications located in general industrial, high-temperature, and corrosive environments. The nozzle provides a narrowly focused air pattern measuring 1.25 in. dia. when positioned 6 in. away from the target surface. A 12-oz. blowing force is achieved with 13 SCFM at 80-PSIG air consumption. The nozzle meets OSHA standards for dead-end pressure, 29 CFR 1910.242(b), and noise requirements 29 CFR 1910.95(a).
