Abtex Corp. has introduced a compact, wet, Tri-Ten planetary-head deburring system in return-to-operator (RTO) configuration. In a single pass, the system deburrs both sides of flat parts up to 4.5 in. in diameter. Drenching the workpiece with coolant as it is deburred helps to keep parts clean and extend brush life. A magnetic conveyor carries parts through an offset planetary deburring head, where three Abtex fiber abrasive brushes deburr the upward-facing surface. The parts then move to a continuous parts turnover conveyor that flips them for the return trip through the brushes. After both sides of the part are deburred, it passes under a final coolant rinse, followed by an air knife to blow off excess coolant. The part then is demagnetized before exiting at an opening next to the entrance.

Viking Blast & Wash Systems has announced the release of the 36 ST airless, swing-table shotblast system. The worktable is attached to the blast door, so that when the door is opened, the table swings completely clear of the cabinet for loading and unloading. An optional second door with table can be added. The table rotates while exposed to the abrasive blast, providing a uniform surface finish. The replaceable manganese-alloy steel table liner is 3/8 in. thick and 36 in. in diameter. The system uses two 5-HP, V10 blast wheels to clean parts up to 28 in. tall and 1,000 lbs. Manganese-alloy plate wear liners protect the blast cabinet in the primary blast zone opposite the blast wheels. Cast chrome liner packages also are available. Other standard features include an airwash separator for cleaning abrasive before blasting, a separator plate to provide equal distribution of abrasive, and a safety interlock to prevent opening of the blast door during operation.
