      <description><![CDATA[LVD Strippit has introduced a compact material storage and retrieval tower for select models of its CO2 laser cutting systems. According to the company, the space-saving system allows optimal material flow and unattended operation with uninterrupted processing of laser-cut parts.The CT tower system enables automated production from stored raw material to stacked finished parts while providing increased storage capacity.Units are available in four-, six-, and 10-pallet configurations. The system handles workpieces as large as 10 by 5 ft. and material thicknesses up to 0.79 in. with a maximum load/unload pallet storage capacity of 3.31 tons.Spreading magnet, air gun, and peeling cylinder sheet separation devices are used to prevent loading of more than one sheet at a time and separate sheets for automatic loading.The compact tower is offered for Orion 3015 Plus and Sirius 3015 Plus laser cutting systems. Both systems are engineered as automation-ready and can be integrated or retrofitted with the tower unit.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[United States Steel Corporation (U.S. Steel) has developed COR-TEN AZP&amp;reg;. Created by coil-coating the company's GALVALUME&amp;reg; steel sheet substrate, the product mimics the color and texture of weathering steel while maintaining thin-gauge structural integrity.Suitable for exterior architectural applications, the coated steel is designed to provide lasting color and texture finish. Prepainting metal before fabrication and installation provides a coating superior to postpaint application, states the company. It offers uniform coverage of the metal that helps eliminate edge-to-edge and side-to-side variability and reduce corrosion.The paint finish system includes a PVDF primer, a brown topcoat, and a contrasting overlay print. The topcoat contains infrared reflective pigments to make it a &quot;cool roof&quot; product, meeting energy codes and standards in many areas. These multiple layers of paint require a two-pass process and a print-roll to apply the contrasting overlay. However, the process is simplified by working with a coil coater on an automated, continuous-loop prepaint system.]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Carpenter Technology Corp. has introduced a controlled-chemistry, free-machining, ferritic 13 percent chromium alloy developed for use in magnetic components that offers improved corrosion resistance.Chrome Core&amp;reg; 13-XP alloy can be considered for fuel injection components and other electromechanical devices in which corrosion-resistance must be better than that of pure iron, low-carbon steel, and silicon-iron alloys.In salt spray corrosion testing, Chrome Core 13-XP alloy provided better resistancethan the higher alloyed 18 percent chromium ferritic stainless steels, without the substantial decrease in saturation induction typically exhibited by that material, the company said.The new alloy is the latest in Carpenter's Chrome Core series ofalloys which have been used in automotive components such as fuel injectors and ABS solenoids. It can be considered for industrial solenoid components which require magnetic properties better than those for Type 430FR alloy or Chrome Core 18-FM alloy. Alternately, it is also a candidate for applications requiring a ferritic stainless steel with improved corrosion resistance.Typical physical/magnetic properties of the new alloy are: saturation magnetization, 1.7 Bs, Tesla; maximum permeability, 43,000; resistivity, 814 microohm millimeters, and coercivity, 111 Hc,A/m.Typical mechanical properties for Chrome Core 13-XP alloy, as annealed for optimum magnetic properties, are: 45 KSI (310 MPa) yield strength, 70 KSI (483 MPa) ultimate tensile strength, 35 percent elongation in 2 in. (50 mm) and 50 percent reduction in area.]]></description>
