Hypertherm has introduced two new HyPerformance® plasma cutting systems —the HPR130XD® and HPR260XD®—with Extreme HyDefinition® (XD) technology. The two systems come with patent-pending PowerPierce™ technology for production piercing capability. According to the company, this technology allows cutting of metal up to 25 percent thicker than is possible on the HPR130 and HPR260 models, while maintaining cut speed, quality, and consumable life. The plasma cutting systems have argon capabilities, an 80-amp mild steel bevel process, an ohmic contact integrated into the torch, and True Hole™ technology.A new lead set offers 10 times the wear resistance, while a torch sleeve with integrated bearing design enables infinite rotation, according to the manufacturer. An optional laser pointer, integrated into the torch, is suitable for applications in which the torch must be aligned on the centerline axis or in which visual feedback for programming and robot alignment is desired.
