Mate Precision Tooling offers the EasyMark™ 5-in-1 tooling kit for marking fabricated parts during the punching process. It is designed for machines without a bottom-stroke forming feature.Using the programming software in a CNC punch press, this tool system can be set up to perform the following five marking operations automatically: write numbers, dates, and other identifying information on a part surface with a marker; etch the sheet metal surface with permanent marking information; cut or scribe protective film on sheet metal surfaces; create cone-shaped indentations on the surface to locate the part with other components for later assembly; and perform high-speed, dot-matrix marking. The kit contains all components and tools for setup into all five of the marking modes. These include an A-Station guide and canister; a marker pen; one brass, one carbide, and two diamond inserts; three types of springs for the diamond and brass inserts; a roller ball; and blank dies.

Tooling Technology has added a new product to its line of Segen pneumatic quick-change cylinder locks. The new PD500 Mega Cylinder helps decrease changeover times on large tools, fixtures, molds, and dies for many industries. The 11-lb. unit instantly locates and locks its mating 2-lb. knob in an accurate, repeatable home position with 25,000 lbs. of static holding force, the company states. The cylinder lock has a corrosion-resistant finish and an operational temperature range between -65 and 450 degrees F. According to the manufacturer, the high-strength steel knobs withstand high shear loads, accelerating the changeovers of larger, inverted, and vertically positioned tools, molds, and dies.

Mate Precision Tooling has introduced its AMX™ ABS tooling with lubrication features and high-speed steel to extend tool life. The punches and strippers are compatible with Amada ABS assemblies and holders. The tooling has internal lubrication within the punch guide and external lubrication between the punch guide and the turret bore. This internal lubrication of all critical tool components helps prevent galling, slivering, and slug pulling. The lubrication functions are computer-controlled within the turret press and can be programmed and regulated according to punching requirements.Optional Maxima™ coatings and Nitride treatments are available. Maxima is a lubricious coating that acts as a barrier between the punch and sheet metal. Nitride is a heat treatment for abrasive and adhesive wear environments when punching thin materials.Precision machined of premium M2 high speed steel with enhanced heat treatment, the punches combine with hardened and ground stripper guides to reduce galling, wear and heat. This results in optimum performance, high dimensional accuracy, and maximum tool life, the company says. The tooling is available in A and B station punches, stripper guides, and assemblies, as well as C, D, and E station punches and strippers designed for use in all Amada machines equipped with ABS capability.

Toyoda Machinery offers a four-position tool changer or revolver within the tool magazine on its machining centers equipped with matrix magazines. When tools are staged in the revolver for the current part process, time usually lost waiting for pocket indexing is nearly eliminated. The large-capacity magazines allow storage for multiple part processing and additional backup tooling as required. When the part program starts, tools in the magazine are called in process order and staged in the revolver, indexing in as needed during the part process cycle. As soon as a tool completes its cycle, it transfers back into the magazine to its assigned pocket. Any ready tool waiting for a place in the revolver then is transferred to the open pocket in the revolver. The manufacturer's OP Supporter software provides tool management and an overview of all the tools within the magazine at the machine CNC screen. The proprietary software monitors tool time usages and keeps track of the tool loading station, revolver, backup tools, and all stored tools while the machine is still running.

Miyachi Unitek midfrequency inverter spot welding controls can be integrated into assembly processes using progressive dies, inline presses, or transfer presses, enabling users to bypass a secondary operation for attaching fasteners, studs, and so forth, by employing in-die welding.According to the manufacturer, the controls have the industry's fastest rise to current, which allows the user to take advantage of the high contact resistance to minimize the time required to produce a consistent, good-quality weld. Shorter weld times also facilitate better usage of the weld projection, resulting in reduced weld splash, a smaller HAZ, and less part deformation, the company states. The ISA range of inverter power supplies are packed in NEMA-style enclosures and can deliver 500, 1,000, 2,000, and 4,000 amps of primary welding current, respectively.
