Bronx/Taylor-Wilson offers the 10.CR.5 cross-roll tube straightening machine. The 10-roll design can straighten to stringent tolerances at high speeds, according to the company. The machine incorporates multiple bending moment, which helps improve straightness by increasing the number of plastic bending cycles. According to the company, the leading and trailing ends of the tubes can be straightened more effectively because of the facility for additional pressure straightening. The straightener has vertical adjustment on all top rolls and numbers 2, 3, and 4 bottom rolls. This allows the machine to apply a gentle deflection to the tube by deflecting or bending the material over three or four roll center distances instead of two, as on the six-roll machine.

Two companies have worked together to introduce a new method for documenting or verifying large and complex tubes, such as those found in the oil and chemical industries, but also in aircraft and heavy vehicles. The method combines the large-volume capability of the Metronor Solo probe system with simple-to-use software from TeZet. The user captures the required tube dimensions with the hand-held probe and automatically creates a CAD model of it in the software. To document a stretch of straight tube, the operator indicates three points at one end of the tube and then a couple of more points further down the tube to define the direction. Bends, flanges, intersections, and tube length are documented the same way.The data-gathering system can handle volumes of 10 m and beyond, depending on the required accuracy. If required, repositioning can be done in seconds. The probe is lightweight and wireless, and it uses different styli lengths to reach tubes hidden from direct view.Since only the required data is captured, the process gives immediate results without any need for postprocessing large amounts of data.

Roll-Kraft has introduced its Ardcor high-speed, quick-change cutoff system. The patent-pending Rapid-Konvert Cut-Off System has touchscreen press, die, and closed-loop servo-driven controls designed to cut lengths accurately throughout the entire speed range. According to the company, the integrated die frame, cylinder, and carriage are industry firsts because they allow operators to change quickly between vertical and angular cuts. The system also includes quick-change round die inserts designed for long life, simple switching between vertical and angle-cut applications, and easy sharpening with a conventional grinder; a quick-change die set with hydraulic cylinder that rotates within the frame for vertical or angled cutting; precision linear rails intended to reduce noise and maintenance; and electric servomotor and controls. The cutoff system is designed for full integration with existing equipment and cuts at more than 600 FPM, with higher speeds possible based on application, the company reports.
