Some very big things 3D-printed at Oak Ridge National Lab

Photo report on some of the large-scale additive projects done at ORNL’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility

Shelby Cobra 3D-printed at ORNL’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility.

The Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is well-known for its high-profile 3D printing projects, like the Shelby Cobra sports car; the house for the Additive Manufacturing Integrated Energy (AMIE) project; and a replica of a 1952 Willys Jeep, which took only three weeks to print and assemble.

Included in this report are photographs of some of the large-scale objects ORNL and its partners have additively manufactured during the past few years. Their size and functionality are remarkable.

BTW: Keep an eye out for the next issue of The Additive Report, which will include a report on the facility and its work with its 3D printing partners.
