RE3DTECH operates HP, Markforged, and SLM Solutions 3D printers.

The private equity firm Core Industrial Partners Inc. has acquired RE3DTECH, a provider of AM services with a focus on the high-volume production of parts.

RE3DTECH, located outside of Chicago in Grayslake, Ill., offers a suite of in-house manufacturing services, including 3D printing, finishing, quality control, and assembly. It specializes in printing thermoplastic, composite, and metal parts on HP, Markforged, and SLM Solutions equipment, focusing on the aerospace/defense, consumer, technology, automotive, and medical industries.

Chicago-based Core, which has $700 million in capital commitments, invests in North American, lower-middle manufacturing businesses. Its verticals include AM, automation and robotics, motion and process control, optics, and lasers.

Core Managing Partner John May said the acquisition was spurred by the growing focus on high-volume production within the AM sector.

The president of RE3DTECH, Jim Teuber, said, “Our partnership with Core will help unlock the resources necessary to continue investing in cutting-edge capabilities and further enhance our customer value proposition.”
