D3 Tech acquires 3D metal printer for machine shop

The design and engineering consulting firm D3 Technologies has added metal 3D-printing capabilities to its machine shop in Springfield, Mo.

Addition of the Markforged Metal X printer allows the company to demonstrate and sell end-to-end manufacturing solutions to clients and companies interested in additive manufacturing, said D3.

Until recently, the machine shop focused on subtractive manufacturing, housing a variety of CNC equipment for processing aluminum, stainless steel, carbon, plastic, and other materials. D3’s corporate office, also in Springfield, houses four 3D printers for building composite parts.

Besides consulting services, the company provides CAD training and is a reseller of Autodesk software and 3D printers from Markforged, 3D Systems, and 3D Platform. It has 22 offices nationwide.
