If the 3D-printed shoe fits …

Studio Mule

Participants in Sintratec’s 2022 3D-printed-shoe-design contest submitted some very kicky ideas.

The Swiss builder of modular SLS (selective laser sintering) 3D printing systems for polymers recognized three winners and three honorable mentions. The winners were:

• The Studio Mule, by Cullan, is printed from a soft, flexible polymer and appears to be one continuous cord of material.

Tripstar, by René, “makes great use of the benefits that the SLS process offers,” said Sintratec. “Namely, an open, star-shaped design and varying wall thicknesses to provide rigidity or flexibility, respectively, to certain parts.”

Human Shoe, by Kedar, is a concept sneaker that caught the judges’ collective eye because of its “detailed mesh structure and intriguing organic aesthetics.”

Participants submitted files of their designs, then Sintratec selected the winners and honorable mentions and printed their designs on a Sintratec S2 system.
