MacLean-Fogg opens Michigan additive manufacturing plant

In early July, MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions opened the doors to MacLean Additive, Sterling Heights, Mich. The 35,000-sq.-ft. facility will focus on the production of 3D-printed components and tooling, as well as the distribution of the company’s Formetrix L-40 steel powder for manufacturing tooling.

“With the addition last year of the Formetrix portfolio to our existing additive manufacturing activities, we quickly outgrew our initial MacLean Additive space in Macomb, Mich.,” said the additive division’s vice president and general manager, Greg Rizzo. “This facility gives us the room we need to develop our durable tooling product lines, support our ever-growing steel-powder customer base, as well as continue our 3D-printed parts-production activities.”

MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions, Mundelein, Ill., supplies various markets, including automotive, heavy-vehicle, and military. Its parent company, MacLean-Fogg Co., is a worldwide enterprise with 35 global manufacturing facilities and annual sales exceeding $1 billion.
