Wohlers Report: additive manufacturing industry up nearly 20% in 2021

Wohlers Associates has released its popular annual report on the state of the additive manufacturing/3D printing industry. Overall, the news is good.

According to Wohlers Report 2022, the AM sector grew 19.5% in 2021. That’s a 7.5% uptick from 2020, which was negatively impacted by the pandemic.

“As expected, the industry has returned to a period of advancement and investment,” said Terry Wohlers, head of advisory services and market intelligence at Wohlers Associates, powered by ASTM International. “This expansion cuts across aerospace, healthcare, automotive, consumer products, energy, and other sectors.”

The information in the 425-page book, which is available in print and digital versions, drew on the support of 260 service providers, AM machine manufacturers, and producers of third-party materials. A team of 93 co-authors and contributors from 33 countries shared their views and perspectives, Wohlers said. (Click here to read the list of acknowledgements and table of contents.)
