Addbor N25 polymer composite allows 3D printing of environmentally friendly radiation absorbers

polymer composite for radiation shielding applications

A new, high-technology polymer composite for radiation shielding applications has been launched by Additive Composite Uppsala AB and Add North 3D AB.

Addbor N25, comprising boron carbide and nylon, has been developed and produced as filament optimized for 3D printing. The boron carbide provides effective absorption of neutrons in places that use radiation sources. The material can be used to 3D-print complex shapes that shield stray radiation and provide collimated beams.
