Infinite Materials debuts new water-soluble material for extrusion 3D printing

additive manufacturing

Support structures 3D-printed from AquaSys dissolve rapidly in tap water, dramatically reducing postprocessing time.

Infinite Materials Solutions LLC recently launched AquaSys General Purpose, a water-soluble support material compatible with most polyesters. It replaces PVA and exhibits good performance characteristics and print fidelity when used with standard PLA-type build materials, claims the manufacturer.

Specifically designed for use with extrusion-style 3D printers—FFF (fused filament fabrication) and pellet—AquaSys dissolves 20% faster in room-temperature tap water than PVA, can be easily removed from parts without resorting to harsh chemicals, and can be used on a wide variety of extrusion machines, including low-cost dual-extruder ones.
