MakerBot has introduced Method Carbon Fiber Editions for printing of strong parts for manufacturing tools, jigs and fixtures, and end-use production, as well as metal replacement parts in some applications.

The materials print carbon fiber-reinforced nylon that offers high strength and heat resistance and come preconfigured with a new composite extruder designed to handle abrasive materials. The extruder has hardened metal drive gears, a metal filament switch, and an interchangeable hardened steel nozzle.

The nylon carbon fiber is a suitable alternative to metal for structural applications such as vehicular brackets and inspection gauges, manufacturing tools such as robotic end effectors, and under-hood applications.
