Snapmaker taking pre-orders on 2nd-gen 3D printer/engraver/carver

snapmaker, which introduced the Snapmaker 3-in-1 3D printer/laser engraver/CNC carving machine several years ago, is accepting orders for the new Snapmaker 2.0.

The latest-gen version is more robust, “smarter,” has more functions, and can be used to produce larger parts than the original, says the company. Snapmaker 2.0 comes in three models: A150, A250, and A350. Users can make large prototypes or multiple small objects in one build. The largest system, the A350, has a 320- by 350- by 330-mm build envelope.

Reportedly the most-funded tech project in Kickstarter history, the Version 2.0 desktop machine for 3D printing newbies, hobbyists, DIYers, and designers:

• features a modular design;

• is made from aerospace-grade aluminum alloys;

• comes with a user-friendly touchscreen;

• allows users to upload designs via Wi-Fi or USB flash drive and print with the touch of a button, as well as update the firmware directly via Wi-Fi; and

• automatically detects power losses and, when power is restored, resumes operations at the exact location where the process stopped.
